    Hi,
Does any one have any Idea when I might be able to get hold of the ATI HD4770?

    Cheers

    Re: HD 4770 Video card

I ordered a 512MB Gigabyte HD 4770 GFX Card from Scan yesterday. I think it came in and went out of stock again within 24hrs

I read that the Gigabyte one has better than stock cooler, but I think 4770 cards are mostly the same which ever brand you go with. Accessories, guarantee and after sales support are the main differences when you choose a different brand.

I didnt particularly want the Gigabyte, I had been checking the webste everyday for a week or so and just bought the first 4770 that came in stock

The 4770's are in short supply hence why the 4850's are being reduced at a lot of places.

What's the 4850 like? Isn't it still quite a lot more expensive. Is it worth the extra money for a significant gain?

Don't suppose anyone from scan might know when any of the 4770's are back in stock?

4850 is faster than the 4770 at stock, but 4850 runs hotter and uses more power. 4850 is actually cheaper than the 4770 not more expensive (but only because the 4850 price has been dropped recently).

    Thanks Ironbuket

Most of the prices I can find are around the £125 for the 4850. Where can I get one cheaper than £80?
Is it woth going the 4850 then if they are at a similar price?

    Cheers

    Thanks Blinky

OK Now I'm really in confused

    Should I go for the HD 4770 @ £85

    HD 4850 @ £87

    Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4870 @ £106

£106 would max out my budget and some folk have suggested I might need a new PSU so really don't know what to go for now.

I can see 4850's for £75 (inc vat) and 4870's for £99 (inc vat), but not from Scan. Havent yet seen any 4770 for less than £80 (inc vat).

I got my 4770 for £78 from ebuyer when they came out, but the short supply and high demand is pushing the price higher than what they should be.

Well, the 4870 outperforms the 4770 by about 20%, so if you want some power, go for the 4870, but I went for the 4770 mainly because I plan to buy a Silverstone Sugo, and the lower temps from the 4770 will be of great benefit in a smaller case.

It all depends what you want.

    How are you finding it?

I'm not bothered about the heat as I won't be overclocking it or anything.
I just don't want to have to upgrade for quite a while. It'll be replacing a 9700pro which has lasted me quite a few years now
