    Seagate HDD Failures

    Hey Guys,

I have one of the Seagate series of drives that are having issues with firmware and failing. Even though my HDD serial number says theres nothing wrong, it was bought a while ago and many people also claimed theirs have failed even though seagate said their drive according to their serial number was safe!

Now i have many things on my ST3750330AS bought from scan and dont want the drive to fail. Is scan recalling any of their drives sold before june 2008? I just dont want to like wait for it to fail when i may be doing something really important! LoL:S I know they said it aint affected but with people claiming even the ones that dont apparently need a firmware upgrade have failed, im kinda worried.

    Thanks

    Amrit

    Back Up Your Stuff!

Seriously, if its important, you should remember that ANY hard drive can fail, and you should always have it backed up elsewhere!

that's exactly right and with hard drives so cheap, why not just buy a spare and copy to it regularly?

May I suggest this little gem
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/IcyBo...D-Black-Colour

It's a trayless SATA caddy. It goes in where a CD drive would go, and you then plug in a sata cable from your motherboard to the caddy, and a power supply lead.

Then you can stick a SATA drive in an shut the door... boot it up... copy across and then power down and take it out so it's safe from wear and tear, power spikes, viruses etc.

I've used one today... mate with fubar PC... I copy everything I need to a cheap spare hard disk at my house, drive to his house and plug it in there. Done.

(in this case it was even easier cos I built his PC and he has one of these too, so it was a doddle)
