Scan & DPD, what a combo

I have never been so happy to receive a parcel until my OCZ Vertex 2E arrived today(17/09/2010). No anxious waiting or wondering if the delivery would be made before I had to go to work.

    It was brilliant!

I only noticed the text I got later in the afternoon because it was sent before I woke up(4am)... luckily I keep my phone on silent over night.

Just needed to air my appreciation for the amazing service and to thank Scan for switching to DPD, I never imagined a delivery company could be that could.

Re: Scan & DPD, what a combo

I think scan moving to DPD is an excellent move. It's so refreshing being able to go onto the DPD website and see an estimated delivery time so you're not stuck in waiting all day.

I had bad experiences with Scan using CityLink (ordered 2 1TB Samsung Hard Drives and an SSD and citylink left it outside my house because they said I wasn't in (however they'd gone to the wrong house)).

Never been happier to see a company use a different courier

i'm curious, how did that work then?
normally i would pick the earliest available date (usually next day unless missed the cut-off) unless no one can be guaranteed present to sign in which case i would pick a date further when someone can be.

i mean did they offer you times with the days? or was it a case of missing being able to choose next day when you ordered then subsequently could from the text?
Then how are you able to respond to them? can select from web or what? and is there a default (eg original requested day) if you dont respond?

lots of questions! i just wonder if you requested a specific day originally why they would offer other days?

Re: Scan & DPD, what a combo

I must admit the thing I like best is they txt you with the option of moving the delivery day, which seems very sensible selecting a delivery day when and order has an out of stock (read supply from channel) selecting a date is silly. However when the courier has the package this is the perfect time to move it to a new date. Lead times can be very strange, I ordered an out of stock time (not a scan example), was informed a lead time 1 week, then txted 2 days later it had been send. A planned delivery at checkout makes no sence in this case. Ok I have not used the delay service yet (I work a record distributor with a goods in department so I just get the stuff send to my work), however its nice to know its there for if I ever am not available.

    Have to agree.
I had an order arrive from scan last week, and it was so much less painful than dealing with city link (I know some people had good experience, but I had nothing but crap), and that was always the weak link in the chain when ordering from scan
Kudos to scan for listening to feedback, and doing something about it.

on the website the earliest day is a tuesday if you order on a saturday as previously city link didn't collect parcels at the weekend, so i ordered as usual on a saturday expecting a tuesday delivery but then got a text from DPD saying it would be delivered tuesday but if i wanted to change it TEXT 1= monday 2=tuesday 3= wednesday, So obviously text back monday as getting my stuff a day earlier is a bonus.

Previously you would get a despatch email from scan on a saturday but you item would sit in the warehouse packed ready to go until monday evening.

Correct - there's an option now for despatch on Saturday for delivery Monday.
