    Cpu doa???

Hi all, Just posted this in the Abit section but it might be better in here

Just bought an Intel Pentium dual core E6600 for an Abit LG-95 Rev 1, the board has been running fine for years with a P4..

Fitted the E6600 but it will not post, I did a lot of research on compatibility but I just want to see if anyone knows for sure if it is; or isn’t compatible with the LG-95 before I RMA the CPU

Just for info, it still boots fine with the P4..

    Thanks in advance

What BIOS are you running on the board?

Thats where i was going aswell.
This will almost certainly need a flash to work with that CPU.

    Re: Cpu doa???

    It does look like that CPU is supported, but only after BIOS 12 or higher and this can be seen on the CPU support list at the following link ;

    http://www.abit.com.tw/cpu-support-l...45gc_lg-95.htm

As such, I would advise installing your old CPU, updating the BIOS to the latest version and then swapping the CPU as the E6600 should work fine afterwards.

    Best Regards,

    Hi guys

    Thanks for the reply’s

I am running bios 12, I found that list during my research and was one of the reasons I ordered the E6600.

Looks like I’ll have to RMA it…

    Thanks for your help

If i was you, i would flash to the latest version if 12 isn't it.
That way, you wont get a failed RMA.

    Re: Cpu doa???

The E6600 chip you purchased is not the CORE 2 Conroe 65nm chip which is on the Abit website compatibility list, it is the Pentium Dual Core E6600 which is based on the wolfdale 45nm chip and totally different, hence why it will not work in your motherboard.

We were not calling you a liar we were trying to advise that the compatible chip you are referring to via ABIT is totally different from the chip you purchased, confusing yes, accusing you of being a liar, absolutely not !

Got my Refund through, thank you for that, it’s a shame I had to use the Distance Selling Regulations but if your customer service’s attitude had not been so bad we might have been able to come to another arrangement and you might still have me as a customer.
