What firmware does the Jap version have - can it be updated to a UK version?

You just upgrade it to the latest Jap version, there's nothing to be gained from having a UK firmware.

Don't upgrade to 2.1. You can't play emulators or games on a 2.1. Upgrade to 2.0 and then use the MPH Downgrader to downgrade to 1.5 for emulators and games. I'll pm you a link to the downgrader and some emulators if you want.

If you do want to play homebrew stuff, then be careful upgrading to 2.0 as 2.5 is now the default upgrade if you upgrade the psp directly over the internet.

I can't be bothered with homebrew (most of it's rubbish) so I'm quite happy running v2.5

Exactly. I'd much rather have all of the latest official psp upgrades than home cooked, possibly dodgy and potentially psp killing! Watch out, there are virii about.

The firmware on the version we have in is 1.5/2.0 and if you ask most people they will tell you that 1.5 is the best and i wouldnt disagree to be fair

Yeah, but im not bothered about homebrew stuff. Is the webbrowser better in later versions because thats something i'm most interested in (after games). I also plan you use it to control my wireless Squeezebox.
