Still worried about my new Hard Disk

ok.. sorry to open up another new thread but i do not want to confuse it with the thread that i just posted.

Still having the same problem as in my post long ago http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=59707

anyway. you know when u insert a pendrive into ur computer, there is this icon on the system bar where u go to to stop ur pendrive before u pull it out. well apparently my 250Gb Maxtor Maxline III hard disk also appears in that icon thingy. is this normal?

Just worried that, it is the reason why after i install software it causes a very very slow boot up.

do i need to install a hard disk driver?

Hard disk drivers will improve performance, but as timezero says, sata is hotswappable so that icon will appear for most SATA drives.

No, you cannot send the whole computer back, best thing would be for you to give our Technicians a call and talk through the issues with you, they will progress the matter for you. 0870 755 4747 option 1,3

just wondering.. how many days do i have to be able to send the item i bought back if i am not satisfied with it?

Is there any other way of checking my hard disk other than using PowerMAx provided by maxtor? Coz there is quite alot of sound coming from my hard disk.. so worried.

When i use my PC sometimes when i just try to close some program, the CPU usage becomes 100% and the program does not close. Can this be cause by a faulty hard disk or the Processor itself? i got an AMD 4000+ I also notice that when watching films there are times where it plays the film too fast or too slwo making it not accurate with the sound. I don;t think it is the software problem coz i used the same software as i have used back home which does nto cause any problem

I may be wrong - but it sounds more like a codec related problem....

The movies out of sync is definately a codec problem, and the programs not closing properly would point to some other software issue. Maxtor Drives are noisy, I have mine in an mCubed silent bracket thing, and that seems to have got rid of the worst of it.

as far as it not being detected goes, if its intermittent id say it was probably HDD, where abouts in your case is it? Does it get very hot?

Youd also have 7 days after purchase to return the itme (assuming its not faulty).

well i don't think my HDD get hot at all coz i got a fan blowing straight at it. I have got a CoolerMaster Centurion 5 case so the place where you are supose to place ur hard disk got this fan.

Does scan have better testing tools other than the software provided by Maxtor coz i only have 1 hard disk and if i send that back i would be computerless.

anyway i ran the Burn-In test that was avaliable in PowerMax for 8 cycles. According to the instruction each cycle take approximately 30min to complete. So i guess 8 cycles would be around 4-5 hours? However, mine took 12 hours to complete the 8 cycles. Is this normal?

    The result was "passed".
