    Unhappy Delayed order

    Today I ordered a - Intel Pentium D 930 Socket775/Abit AW8 i955X, S775, PCI-E (x16)/1GB Corsair TwinX XMS2/80 Gb Maxtor 6V080E0 DiamondMax 10/256MbXFX 7800GT.
They were supposed to be shipped today for delivery tomorrow or Friday.
Unfortunately @ 6.38pm I received a delayed order notification (due to a 'temporary shortage in stock') with the 256MbXFX 7800GT not expected until 31/05/06!
The Scan site showed the card to be in stock when I ordered it.

You have no idea how inconvenient this is I am building this PC for my son it is his birthday on the 6th of June and i only have custody of him every other week.
This weekend is my weekend and i was going to have his birthday early.
Why could you not have let me know sooner I placed the order at dinner time ?
Please can you let me know what i can do will i get my order before the weekend?
I am really disappointed about this especially as the item was supposedly in stock when I ordered it.

We do try and let customers know as soon as possible and in your situation the order was placed at 13:20 yesterday therefore the out of stock item didnt flag as out of stock until the warehouse went to pick the items, as such we advised you via email as soon as possible.

The website is updated daily with regard stock however within scan we have 3 seperate sales department with the E-Commerce, Retail Sales and also our reception sales as such whats likely to have happened is that when you placed your order it will have been showing as in stock, however some one must have ordered just before you and obviously the website hadnt updated as it will only update once the parts have been picked and allocated to an invoice.

At the moment we are currently out of stock (even though the website says different) of all the 7800GT cards except this one:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=304431

Alternatively you could change the card for the newer 7900GT range (obviously for either change there would be a slight charge as the difference in price)

In the 7900GT range I would say go for either of the following:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=383047
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=385945
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=386396

If you would like me to amend the order for you then please let me know asap and I shall get the card swapped over for you.

    Regards,

    Telefrag

Come on m8 - yea all products have there % of failed units .... the error you have seems an issue with your card only..

Its like saying damn I have had an issue with a particular brand of car therefore all there cars must be gabage and have the same issues.

Just for added clarification I have checked the returns % of this product with the % sold and at the moment it stands at 3% which is average for any electronical component

    Google 7800GT and issues

Any *new* product has teething issues, however the new drivers have resolved these, obviously your card does seem to be operating differently for whatever reason however our returns/technical department will be able to assist further.

On checking the 7800 GT the average returns rate was a little higher than the 7900GT series (around 0.2%) therefore I wouldnt say the newer cards have there issues at all as the returns % is around average for any product

I hope so as it has pulled me down - I have never had a high end card before (unless you can call a 6800GS "high-end")

    Hi
I took delivery of my third 7900GT on Friday due to faulty Samsung DDR3 memory.
The guy in the RMA dep’t I spoke to said that Scan would test this one before it was dispatched.

I was wondering what procedure was undertaken to test the card and if this card develops the same problem as the others will I still be able to RMA it?

Also if the latter does occur would it be possible to choose a more reliable card?

I will pm the responder with RMA details if needed.

    Thank you
