    Barbone Laptops

In light of your recent entrance into the pre built laptop bussiness is there any chance of you selling barbones laptops - for example you could sell the ones you buy in for your laptops.

Barbones laptops are going to get more and more popular i think - CustomPC have just done a front page article on them (should be on general release in a few days)

    Good call nvening.
I've been thinking about this for a while now, and it would be great if Scan could do something like this...I'd finally take the plunge then.
Appreciate that it's not quite like getting a few things in with something like this (would have to stock not only the barebones themselves, but then compatible graphics cards etc), but I'd like to see this implemented if at all possible.

A nice Core 2 Duo, 7900GTX Go and barebones from Scan and I'd be sorted

    Cheers Steve,

As I say, I appreciate it'd be more work than just a single SKU addition, but handy nonetheless .

    We'll await your reply

makes sense to me. mobile processors are already used in desktops, and regular motherboards are available to take them. 2.5" drives are common place, same with memory. Optical drives aren't hard to some by either, same with mini-PCI wireless cards.

That just leaves graphics cards and the bare bones themselves.

We have had a couple of products like this in the past.. but they didnt really get well recieved.

Saying which, the technology has moved on - so if they are available, I expect they'd be somewhat better now

Does seem an interesting idea - will the graphics be able to be upgraded as with cpu, memory etc?

The trouble with graphics is even if they use the MXM slot the cards are a) hard to get and b) need different heatsinks.
