    post-Christmas price drop?

    Hi

Looking at the prices of some parts, seems like some things like RAM have gone up a bit in the last few months, presumaby because christmas is coming?? The prices will undoubtably drop after christmas, but do you think it will be enough of a drop to put off buying £1000 worth of stuff until then?? If its like 2% drop then it wont be worth it, but if I will end up paying £800 for the same system, then it might be! Any thoughts/previous experience??

The prices went up due to DRAMExchange and Memory coming even more expensive - demand was up on DDR2 for example with the Launch of Core2duo so the more demand the higher the prices

There doesn't tend to be "Jan" sales in the PC industry - bar the odd bargain at some High St store

There is a bit of January effect, its not generally noticeable in the puter parts sector tho

Stuff is going to be cheaper in January, but that's because hardware is always getting cheaper, thing you've got to ask urself is whether you want your new PC over the xmas holiday?

yeah, that is always the case though isn't it - if you wait it will get it cheaper, but then you will be tempted to buy the next slightly better component! can't win... will have to wait to save up a bit more though anyway
