    Cheeky question....

Hope I don't get into trouble posting this one , but.....

Can I ask what I realise is a loyal Scan customer base - where do you go if you need a component like yesterday, but Scan don't have it in stock, and there's no indication when they might have it?

In other words - who are "second best" to Scan - maybe are still good, but not quite as good as Scan (e.g. can still trust to deliver, and good customer service - maybe more expensive being the differentiator, worst case)? - and therefore would only be used in the (rare) case mentioned above....

Having been convinced to buy self-build components from Scan, rather than pre-built from elsewhere, I can only get 80-90% of my spec'd system from Scan (intention is to order imminently) - two components are out of stock, with no indication of when they might get new stock. And yes, I want the whole lot yesterday (or more importantly need it tomorrow, not in three or four weeks, as current system is starting to fail....).

    Thanks,

If you require a part that we don't normally stock - then tell us what, and we'll try and get it.... or a suitable alternative

And if it's out of stock with no eta... let us know what it is, and we'll get an updated one for you.

We can't really recommend other suppliers here.. and this isn't really the place to ask for it ... sorry

As I said - I realised it was a "dodgy" request, but I'm desperate - and understand if there is a reluctance to recommend other suppliers - but as I said, Scan always first, but "who"? second.......

All the items are "normal" Scan products - just checking my basket - there are in fact 3 (not 2, as I thought) items showing no stock eta....

    Scan code LN11060
    500 Gb HGST (IBM/Hitachi) HDS725050KLA360 Deskstar 7K500, SATA300, 7200 rpm, 16MB Cache, 8.5 ms, NCQ
    (Require/want: 16MB cache, 500Gb, SATA2, fast seek - like IBM/Hitachi)

    Scan code LN14425
    1Gb XFX 7950GX2, PCI-E (x16), Extreme, Mem 1300 MHz, GPU 520 MHz, 48 Pipes, S-Video/2xDVI-I
    (Require/want: 7950GX2, 520Mhz, 1Gb)

    Scan code LN14277
    2Gb (2X1Gb) CorsairTwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12, EPP
    (Require/want: PC6400, 800, 2Gb, medium latency - under £200!)

The rest of the system (case, mobo, psu, etc.,) are all in stock and have my name on them (nearly, anyway...!!).

Any updates on the ETA's for the above would of course therefore be appreciated. Thanks,

11060 - due in next couple of days
    14277 - likewise

no eta for the 14425 yet... perhaps LN15592 as an alternative?

I swear that the last time I followed up on looking at an overclocked EVGA 7950GX2, it was only 512Mb - hence I originally ruled it out. Anyway - that 1Gb alternative looked good - so, thanks for taking the time to respond, and based on the (hopefully) imminent availability of the other components, the orders gone in for the whole system.....

    Here's hoping.... Cheers,
