Just want to check that these will all work together. System already includes 2 IDE drives, 2 DVD writers, 520W PSU, PCI modem, PCI Firewire card, PCI contoller card.

Read on another post that there might be some issues with Asus mobos and need to contact by phone before ordering. What is the situation with this motherboard? Does the Artic Cooler come with thermal paste attached or do i need to buy some?

Anything else i need to consider?

I'll probably be buying online on the weekend as several of these items turn up in "Today Only" on the weekend.

has Firewire on the board. Do you know if this is the only difference?

The P5B-E is the new update the P5B is now a discontinued version of the board the new version is a better overclocker as well there is an article here

Checjing it over there does not seem to be any issues. The cooler does come with its own heatsink paste. The motherboard is a good choice as we use this in some of our systems and does not have any issues with the new Core 2 Duo. The only thing i would do if you can wait a couple of weeks is hold off with the graphics card. You might see some of the 7900GT's dropping in price soon so might get a better card.

One more question. Using info from virokka's link. Is this "board revision 1.01G utilising the latest 0402 BIOS"?

There is a new 1.02G variant. Would you have any idea when that might reach your shelves and the possible cost?
