How can I tell if my Asus P5LD2 supports Core2Duo?

I no longer have the packaging so don't know the serial number

How can I tell if my mobo supports Core2Duo CPU?

Asus have not answered my question but do say support exists from PCB2.0 on - whatever that means.....so how can I tell if my mobo is one of those?

Check near the P5LD2 labelling near the chipset cooler.

I'm sure near there it should have Rev x.xx stamped on this section.

as I understand it I may have memory bandwidth problems with the i945P chipset so I think I'll put that mod off for a while

It's Rev 1.02 so there's that idea out the window then.
