    Re: Which 24" Monitor

I like the look and specs of this samsung:

Samsung SM-245B 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black

If I were buying a 24" TFT, I know i'd get this one.

My current monitor is a 19" Sony X black (not very popular) with a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 12ms response time, and 450 cd/m2 brightness, and that cost me £320 three years ago!

The colours on it are absolutely fantastic, but if you look close enough you can see the ghosting with the 12ms response time. I cant really notice it while playing though.

    Re: Which 24" Monitor

Well, I think I will opt the for Dell 2408 when it comes out - has all the requirements including HD etc.. I'm not after the "cheapest" but the best value for money - and I think the 2408 will fit the bill

    Re: Which 24" Monitor

I've already posted this in another thread, but beware the ocuk 24". PVA it might be and it was a really nice screen (not too glossy either, although it is glossy), but I got a battered box with a letter inside from the previous person who RMA'd it! I'll update you with what happens to my RMA.

    Re: Which 24" Monitor

If it is glossy then the screen is not a PVA Panel, it is TN.
OCUK seemingly got a contaminated batch of 50 monitors - infected by the notorious TN Virus, you can contact them and they will pick it up from you faulty or not.

The OCUK Value 24" screen looks good for the money...just a shame it's OCUK.

    Re: Which 24" Monitor

Update as promised. OcUK arranged a pickup and a redelivery which took a while but the new monitor is great! Nice VA (not sure if it's PVA or MVA), but it doesn't matter. Great viewing angles (if the manufacturer quotes 170, it's probably TN and also a blatant lie, because the picture is going to look noticeably worse at anything above about 60 degrees). No dead pixels either. I also have the BenQ FP241W as my primary monitor. It has all the input options you could need and is absolutely brilliant, but costs twice what the OcUK one cost and frankly there is very very little difference between the 2 from an image quality point of view. The only minor niggles are that the OcUK panel has a bit more back light bleed, but it's really not that noticeable if there is any amount of light in the room and the panel does not support HDCP, but there are ways around that. Be warned though, if you get dead pixels with the OcUK panel, you won't get a replacement, whereas you probably will with the more expensive monitors.
