credit cards...some info needed

Hi, want to order some stuff from a site but the prices seem too good to be true...

i was thinking use the hsbc credit card and if anything goes tits up the cc company will cover me?

it isnt a gold card or anything, standard mastercard type they give to students

What do you reckon?

yep they cover you, good cover too.

i bought an item from little woods £40ish, didnt arrive and contacted them fools to say so. they wernt interested even though they charged me, they were messig around and promised numerous call backs, in the end i spoke to HSBC and they proceeded the chargeback, a week later i had a full refund from HSBC

Well my problem is ... I know most of my credit strip of by heart, and spent loads on it online. Now I have had a new one through and the expiry and CVV numbers have changed, I don't WANT to know what they are for fear of overspending again. If I use my debit then at least I am not going to spend as much!

Isn't there any kind of debit card cover for online purchases? I'm with Natwest.

Actually I'm fairly certabn that that is the legally mandated level - that's not to say that some providers won't do it on lesser amounts though.

Because there is NO protection from debit cards if you use them online and get a dodgy retailer etc etc.

Credit Card companies have to provide protection BY LAW for any purchases over £100..though they can also offer cover for lower value purchases at their own discretion.
