Cool and all but I don't see how it's practically useful.

    Re: terriblebugger.

When did practicalities/cost ever get in the way of 'fashion' (in the short term at least).

It isn't. It's less than useful, it's a hindrance. Can you imagine trying to find a completely transparent phone?

If the backlight is perfected so that the display is vivid, then it would be fantastic. But looking at the sample, for now it sucks right now.

Re: News - First video of the Polytron transparent smartphone

Since batteries currently take up a large proportion of the phone, two tiny cell batteries are hardly going to be sufficient. Looks like this will have severely compromised battery life even if they make the entire bottom third battery.

Agreed. Transparent displays would be fantastic. Add them to glasses, car windscreens and anything else suitable for your very own HUD

Re: News - First video of the Polytron transparent smartphone

I don't get it, Some bloke just showed us a bit of perspex with a couple of watch battery's so it can play that song and a micro sd card stuck in the side, I've got a bit of perspex here, I just need that and the innards out of a singing Christmas card and I've got the same thing, But they should have a working sample by the end of the year.

Think I'll upload the video of me with my invisible phone, Should have a working example you can see by the end of the year.

Transparent phones have been around. 2009 saw this phone, Sony Ericsson Pureness. Saw a guy with one (literally as a fashion accessory) and had a quick go.

My thoughts exactly when I read it. A better example would be perhaps a transparent toilet cubicle?

Just imagine if you dropped this thing, that would be few hundred dollars down the drain.
