Took 30 minutes on hold(left the phone on speaker, no biggie) went and ordered it for £295 free delivery and just got my shipment number... arriving tomorrow via DPD!
The nexus 5 improves upon the only areas I would fault the N4 and it works out as a cheap upgrade, CEX buy it for £147 (n4) so £153 upgrade. The camera looks much better, battery IS better I know its only 10% more in size but the SOC and radio is integrated simply looking at G2 and accounting for the battery size the talk time should improve by 100%+ and the over areas by 60% so its actually a great improvement , LTE so I am sorted with Three mobile next year 4G in plymouth and to top it off the phone is beefier.
Winning , current cost this year for the upgrade and mobile (unlimited everything Three Mobile) = £21.25 nice contract price with 12 month term me thinks, new phone every year .
let me just point out, the Xiaomi Mi3 has 64gb storage and is £315 + postage - has bigger battery and better camera
If you're buying a Nexus, you buy it for stock Android and the latest version at that. The Mi3 doesn't even have with the last version of Android.
And who's to say the camera is better? It has more megapixels, but that means absolutely nothing (aren't we past the mega pixel race yet? Give us more HTC One-style ideas please). That said, the achilles heel of the Nexus range is traditionally the camera, so I'm not exactly expecting miracles from the Nexus 5.
Edit: Oh, and a 5" device with corners that square? That's going to give you more than a few "OOOHH" moments in your pocket.
Hmm... does look like a nice improvement. I was worried about the size but apparently they've reduced the bezel so it's only 4mm taller iirc.
However I only just purchased my nexus 4 two months ago and while the latest tech and higher res would be nice I have no need for 4G in my area and they'll likely release a Nexus 6 in late 2014. Think I'll hold on to my 4 and upgrade to the next model google release.
On a side note, anyone have any estimates on kitkat release for Nexus 4?
Let's not be too harsh on this guy? Not sure if the camera is better in real terms but it does supposedly have a Sony "Exmor RCMOS" camera.

Seems they do very well in China and there was even one person saying they're the Apple of China, haha. I doubt they're anywhere that big but having a quick glance at their website for this phone did get me interested in the phone. From looking at the promo video it seems they do have their own Apple-like stores along with a dedicated 24/7 customer support team.
Personally I feel both phones are very similar in terms of spec, so where it differs on is the software and phone design. The Nexus 5 being Google's flagship means it'll be a stock experience whilst on the other hand Xiaomi have their own "Miui" ROMs where they seem to be as good as Cyanogenmod (haven't followed Android so not sure if Cyanogenmod is still one of the better ones). They seem to have their own cloud too. Phone design is all personal preference though and although both designs don't really hit it home with me, IMO the Xiaomi looks better.
they sold out 100000 units in like 86 seconds just in china so that shows they aren't rubbish. I have the Mi2 and I know I'll be sticking with them for the Mi3 and beyond. updates every week, most reliable phones I've had, miui is miles better in my opinion. within three years, in just china, they're worth $10billion. I'd honestly go with them
Ordered a Nexus 5 (32GB) in black, yes I'll have to wait a bit longer, my order says shipping by Nov 5th but it's worth the extra wait for the increase in storage. Really looking forward to getting my hands on this and seeing what KitKat is like. Hopefully they'll push a KitKat update for my nexus S and hopefully someone will do a custom 4.4 rom for my nexus One

Ordered a 16GB White for my sister and 32GB Black for myself at 18:06. On my order page it says that White is "Pre-ordered" and Black "Leaves warehouse by 5 November 2013"
Been hyping over this phone for the past month so I'm glad that they finally released it. My Galaxy Nexus is half dead and needs to be sent off for repair before the warranty runs out. It cant come quickly enough >_<
Final piece of the puzzle is to wait for my O2 contract to end, tell O2 to stuff it and get a SIM only Three contract with unlimited data.
This is a tasty looking bit of kit.
I'm really tempted to jump ship from Windows Phone for one of these when my contract is up in a few months. I really liked the N4 as well so might try to pick up a cheap 2nd hand one although I;d almost feel guilty as a really want Windows Phone to do well
