To costly and to little gain, and the 4K single cards do not reach acceptable standards still, so I guess if you are crazy buy one, but would recommend not to unless you have other stuff in mind than just gaming, Nvidia is more or less laughing at the consumers though, the extra gain with any of the new cards is really not a leap into the future however you look onto the situation.

Pascal was never on the roadmap, the jump should have been from maxwell to volta, but nvidia changed their plans to include pascal which is maxwell on small die with higher clocks on same voltages to milk another year from the market as AMD vega will not come before 2017.

they hit the jackpot with this plan, as much as i hate to admit it, they know exactly what they are doing and their plans are working perfect.

unfortunately this is what happens when competition is missing, the market is open for only one player who plays with it the way he wants.

I wouldn't call 60 per cent faster than the last Titan X too "little gain" it's a rather big gain.

An impressive card to be honest though, even with the hefty price tag. If you keep it for a couple of years minimum you're not going to do too badly gaming at 4K for the duration.

Nice card - shame that the GTX580 RRP was $500 and this is $1200. So in under six years,the price has gone up 2.4X in USD.

You are not seeing this with any other bit of consumer electronics - phones,cameras,etc.

Its not an aspirational product - it ranks the same as those gold plated iPhones for the average consumer. Plus expect within two years(or less) for it too be beaten by a significantly cheaper card.

The original Titan was much lauded by the tech press as fantastic,yet within 8 months ,the R9 290 series matched for massively less,and the GTX780 MK2 and GTX780TI also made it look a very poor purchase for gamers. So in less than a year,it went from the height of E-PEEN to being an also ran.

The next Titan was also made outdated in a few months by the GTX980TI,so people only had the height of E-PEEN for a few months with that and it lacked some of the compute abilities of the previous Titan.

Within a year the GTX1080 beat both of them too.

The Titan cards have had quite short lifespans.

So,expect when Volta comes out next year with the GTX2080, Titan MK2 will look pointless and even more overpriced.

Then it only spurs on AMD to try and do the same with overpriced cards like the R9 Fury X and the Radeon Pro Duo. At least the Radeon Pro Duo has certified drivers for certain commercial software,which the Titan range does not.

At this rate the GTX1080TI will be a £700 card.

Overpriced cards like the Titan X MK2 only serve to bump up the price range of all the cards under them.

The GTX960 was a $200 card - its replacement is $250+ and I expect the GTX2060 to be a $300 card.

At this rate I expect if AMD makes a card faster than a GTX1080,they might price it at "only" £600 or some other mental price.

For 20-25% more than a GTX1080 it would make the card only horribly expensive as you are sending a huge amount to get a 1080 anyway. At £1200 it's like paying £600 for nothing.

Overpriced cards like this are just pushing up the price of the cards below it. At this rate they will be starting to price people out of PC gaming,or people will have to make do with much worse cards performance-wise under £200 or spend more and more. If Nvidia gets away with it,AMD being a business will do the same.

I have nothing but disdain for cards like the Titan,Titan X and Titan X2. These are still marketed directly and indirectly as gaming cards. The whole Fury branding is AMD copying the Titan branding and attempting to do the same.

It actually worked,since the R9 290 series price freefall was reversed and the R9 390 series prices seemed to be generally higher. Plus it also meant the GTX970 pricing stabilised too.
