Funny now both AMD and Nvidia have their top tier and budget versions, where its Vega vs RTX and 16series+10series vs RX500s. Nvidia sure is attracting a lot of budget builders especially esports friendly gamers with these specs, and with the recent news of Ray tracing on AMD and Pascal series it sure seems to be great for the market also.
Yes, but only because NV equivalent GPU's have much lower compute hardware capability.
Otherwise, most AMD GPU's can easily be undervolted to consumer far less power (which actually brings their efficiency closer to NV's or surpasses it).
Now, if you only game, that's fine, but I'd rater have highly capable compute card to boot and just undervolt it at stock which would not only give me the gaming performance and energy efficiency of equivalent NV gpu, but also computational power of an NV GPU's that basically a tier above the gaming equivalent of an AMD GPU (for example RX580 has pretty much the same same compute power of 1070/1080).
