    New Kaiser ROM to try

Just installed Sleuths new ROM from xda dev. WM6.1
So many ROMs, so little time: WM6.1 based v3.0 Sleuth is here! - xda-developers
Good ROM if you fancy doing installing your own apps, rather than having what the author thinks you need. Seems to quiet quick as well. Good way to clear out all the trial apps youve installed

Re: New Kaiser ROM to try

hmmm, i'm still waiting for a ROM i fancy before i have a go at flashing.

i was gonna go with the last of the WM6.0 from dutty, but now i'm waiting for wm6.1 to sort itself out.

i havent read to much on there in the last week, so the talk of wm6.1 compatable radios and the likes is making me wait TBH

Re: New Kaiser ROM to try

I'm running the diamond one and have had no probs at all and seems faster.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

Re: New Kaiser ROM to try

I thought dutty wasnt going to be releasing any more roms? Hmm methink I shall have to download the diamond release

EDIT: On second thoughts perhaps not, seems to have quite a few problems with GPS and battery life, which is already bad enough anyway!!

Re: New Kaiser ROM to try

    Yes.

The differece between the stock t-mobile ROM at the start of the year and the first Dutty ROM i tried was staggering.

Moving from ROM to ROM isn't such a big deal. Although I haven't flashed in a few months, so when I do there should be a decent difference again.

I also got rid of the horrible t-mobile startup graphic (white background with pink squares) much nicer too.

Re: New Kaiser ROM to try

Cool, so for a newbie to Kaiser ROMs, what benefits should I expect to see by flashing? Will it be any quicker and stop bloody crashing all the time!?

Am guessing I will have to reinstall any apps that I have such as NoData?

Re: New Kaiser ROM to try

Should be more stable. What network are you on? Some operators are really bad for having unstable custom ROMs on their devices.

Think of ROM flashing as being the same a formatting and re-installing windows on your PC. everything will be wiped.

There are tool to backup your contacts, calendars, texts, emails etc. I only backup and restore my texts and MMSs, contacts and calendard come from Outlook (if you back up your contacts, then re-sync, you will end up with two copies of everything on your phone and in Outlook. Pain in the neck that one).

If you think you might like to play around with multiple ROMs, there is a tool that lets you create scripts to install all your apps and settings, these are then pre installed when the phone starts up.

Everything is explained over on XDA Developers, although it isn't always the easiest of sites to find what you are looking for. I did think about doing my own guide on here, but never got around to it.

Re: New Kaiser ROM to try

If your on Orange, a new ROM is pretty much a must. Orange lock the entire phone down so much its ridiculous. The stock Firmwire is awful, I might as well have had a basic Nokia with the functionailty Orange decide to enable.
