    O2 Network Issues?

Is anyone else having issues with O2, especially their slow delivery of text messages?

I sent a few urgent messages last night to the girlfriend explaining to her I'll be late home as we were in quite a nasty RTA on the way home.

These were sent at 5.45-5.50pm and they were not actually delivered until 7.30-8pm at night when I was back home lay in bed in pain and when people are texting myself, I'm not getting them until 12 hours later.

Not only this, last night I had full signal yet when people tried to ring it went straight to voicemail. I tried with Carl and he rang my mobile and got voicemail and I rang him 10 secs later and his phone rang.

Each time I speak to O2 they just try to fob me off trying to blame handsets, where this is not the case as it happens in 4 different handsets ( iphone, N95, 6500 slide, LG cookie)

    Re: O2 Network Issues?

The O2 network for iPhone crashed yesterday and was down for a couple of hours. Not sure if happened again, but it worth checking O2's status on Twitter.

If it did crash again, it'll be third (or fourth?) time it crashed in 3 weeks. Which is kind of worrying :\

Yeah had a couple of people here with their "awesome" AKA shiny bricks AKA iphone in the office here. I couldn't help but smile with glee when the O2 network crashed out again

    As someone else put it:

    Re: O2 Network Issues?

In cases like this it may not be O2 where the issue lies. It could well be the receiving side. When messages are sent they go from handset to message center, then switched to the other network sms center and forwarded onto the recipient.

If they leave your handset fine it is not a handset fault, the problem could lie with either sides sms center.

It could also be down to cellsites, if a site goes down the phone will log onto another site. If it is a large city type area this could overload the other sites within that area as they can only hold so many users. This could also create congestion and end up causing dropped calls, slow web browsing and sms messages being held up.

I work for O2 and havn't heard anything happening in my neck of the woods. No customers have come in saying things arnt working right. It could well be isolated, it sounds like it could be one of the cellsites thinking about it.
