    Google Nexus 2 (Nexus 2)

So I saw an article on the BBC site about it - but I've not seen anything on Hexus, anyone want to talk about it? Since my contract runs out in a few months, I'll be looking at a new Android phone in the coming months and the Nexus 2 looks a nice device. Built by Samsung, is it just a copy of the Galaxy S?

Re: Google Nexus 2 (Nexus 2)

It does look like a good phone, it's just a shame about the pricing on it though. We wanted an apple beater, not something priced along the same lines as the iphone.

Hopefully they will reduce the price in the future once all the early adopters have purchased them.

It is based on the galaxy s, slimmer, faster, running 2.3 software and with NFC chip for paying for things with your phone, not only that but also has 16GB memory.

Re: Google Nexus 2 (Nexus 2)

No Micro-SD Card and otherwise identical specs to a Galaxy left me a little disappointed as there had been rumours of 1080p recording, higher res screen and a dual core processor. This said it still looks like a lovely phone but personally I think the build quality of HTC and the added nice-ness of Sense UI would swing me towards a Desire / Desire HD. If you can hold out til Jan / Feb time you will be sure to see phones with dual core and other lovely things.

Re: Google Nexus 2 (Nexus 2)

Having an original Nexus One bought direct from google at launch, Im honestly a little dissapointed in the 'Nexus S'... I've been waiting for something worth replacing it with, and to be honest this S just isnt it. The nexus one was way out at the top of the field when it launched (in terms of specs)... this just isnt.

Identical specs (cpu etc) wise to the now cheaper galaxy-s, no micro-sd slot, headphone socket on the bottom, and NFC is currently usless in this country (and by the time it is better phones will be out). All bundled up in samsungs flimsy build quality - and yes I've played extensively with the galaxy-s... the screen is gorgeous, but the phone just feels cheaply made

Only positives I can see are - gingerbread! and no silly touchwiz ui...plus no waiting for samsung to bring you updates, you can now get updates direct from google herself when the os gets tweaked / updated. You guarantee youself one of the 4" gorgeous amoled screens...imo the phones one and only redeeming hardware feature.

Would still buy and root a galaxy s and put stock gingerbread on rather than buy a nexus-s though (if I wanted one) - cheaper and the option to chuck a 32gb micro-sd in on top of the 8 / 16gb onboard storage.

Google should have gone to htc...
