    Cheap Android Phone

    Hi All,

Im trying to find a cheap android phone which has a bit of a community following with regards to roms. Hoping to spend downwards of £100 as this is just a workphone (the nokia they have supplied is panties) I have looked at the wildfire S but its a but over my budget, a couple of the ZTEs look ok and so do the some of the lower end galaxies.

It needs to be vodaphone but im happy to unlock a non-vodaphone one.

    Does anyone have any recommendations?

^^ As above - the orange San Francisco AkA ZTE Blade is probably the best android phone that you can get for under £100 brand new.

If you go second hand there are many more (some better) options but if you want new..I don't think that there is better for £100 if you definitely want a droid.

The OSF has risen in price to around £115 including the mandatory £10 top-up from Orange.

    The Palm Pre is £99.99:

The Palm Pre 2 was also around £131 recently but sold out:

Kikatek may have it at some point for around £136:

I would look at the Samsung Galaxy Apollo:

Supposedly it is meant to be unlocked from the CPW.

    Re: Cheap Android Phone

IIRC,it does lack a 3D capable GPU although I could be wrong.

However,it does have more RAM than the Samsung Galaxy Europa and Galaxy Mini. The screen is also a higher resolution.

I dont like the older LG phones, dont even like the newer version of the Chocolate.

However when the Optimus launched last year I was impressed and after having a long chat with the rep was really pleased with the build quality and functionality. This is the origional Optimus I am talking about as it is a lot cheaper than the new Optimus One. You can get it for about £120 :

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-GT540-Sma...1101927&sr=8-1

When I was working for O2 at the time of launch last year I sold loads of them on prepay, never got any returns on it either. Customers were really happy with the fact it is an Android powered smartphone at a decent price point.

It has 512MB of RAM,a higher resolution screen than the Galaxy Apollo and an Areno 200 GPU.

A also havent liked LG phones like... ever. I have always found them utterly useless however that sounds like its worth a look at. I definately wont be spending that much though, over £100 is a total no no for the use this phone will get.

Just buy a decent one. There isn't much point using these nasty cheap ones if you like a good phone.

As he says - he has a good one, this is just for incidental stuff hence a cheaper one with lower performance (but adequate for the requirement)
