HELLO. YEAH I'M THE LIBRARY
Now i'm using the Note 3, i can't go back to smaller screens. Tried to use my dad's phone the other day (iPhone 5c) and it too small
I'm still using the original Galaxy Note and I love it. Wouldn't want anything smaller. AS well as the screen being big enough to see stuff on, I love using the styles (sorry S-Pen). I wasn't interested in having a smartphone until the Note came along. (maybe it is because I used to love my HP PDA? <g>)
This poll was started before the latest iphone release and it seems that even Apple now think that there are two "perfect" sizes when it comes to smartphones. Although Apple didn't "invent" the two form factors that the iPhones come in, I think that other manufacturers will now follow in their steps and come out with two sizes of the same model (instead of one big high end phone and a plethora of crappy small ones).
Nothing wrong with big phones but I think it is about time manufacturers started offering smaller alternatives.
As someone with big hands a 4.5" smartphone is the minimum I could deal with. Around 4.7'' is the sweet spot. In the tablet's department 8" to 10".
I have a OnePlus One (5.5"). Although i've gotten used to it, my next phone will be slightly smaller.
4 to 4.7 after that, no thanks, That's for tablets.
In my country the bigger your phone is, the easier target you are for thieves. So I prefer to use something that fits just right in my hands.
I use my phone quite often for browsing and video, and I find that my 5.5" screen is well suited for that. One-handed use is not a problem either. Portability wise, 5-5.2" in my opinion would probably be the optimal size for pockets.
I've just upgraded from the Moto G to an LG G3 and while its sizable, it feels about right for my hands, probably wouldnt go much bigger as reaching for the top right corner of the screen is awkward with my usual holding position.
In contrast, I found my old iPod Touch 4G while clearing some stuff out earlier, I never realised before but those things are piddly, I could barely believe how small it is.
I've recently just a little bit downsized from a Note 2 to an Xperia Z3 (5.5" to 5.2") and annoyingly, using swiftkey for input, I'm finding the tiny difference in screen size just enough to make swipe input less accurate for me.
Good thing is that the screen quality is so comparatively superior, that being smaller is not an issue - at last, a screen I can read outdoors when it is sunny.
Had a 10.5A battery on the Note 2, which meant I had to fit it in a SPIbelt outside of my pockets due to it being brick like.
Waiting for an extended battery for my Z3 - good thing is that it clips on and powers through the magnetic charging port - so most of the time phone will be normal and only clunky after overly long usage e.g. after using GPS enabled mapping all day on a long walk.
I think that I couldn't go smaller than my Z3.
Personally the bigger the better. I'd ideally like a proper tablet with a bluetooth headset and a sim card to make voice calls.
I stopped using my ipad & android tablets shortly after getting a note2.
When I had a smaller phone (iphone4s) I'd often be zooming in, and reaching for the tablet when web browsing,
with the note I don't tend to move off it - and if I do, its to use a full desktop...
To those who say its "too big" to talk on the phone, consider how big your landline handset is.

Voted for 4" to 4.7". My current phone is a 1st gen Moto G (4.5") which is already somewhat frustrating due to it's screen size combined with hardly and bezel on the sides. It's almost impossible to use one-handed because buttons on the screen are eher too far away from your thumb or the ball (is it really called that? the lump of muscle below the thumb) touches the side of the touchscreen and messes up all other touch actions..
Sucks that almost all manufacturers gave up on <5" phones and the few ones available are either cheapo noname junk or underpowered entry level stuff.
The heck That's the exact CPU I've got in my Thinkpad E130.. and that's capable of running GTA IV/V with its integrated graphics (not pretty but playable).
Having something like that in a phone seems ridiculously overpowered to me. Especially when paired with a OS for the mentally challenged.
What about the non-4G Moto G (XT1032)? 16GB version of course.. 8GB is useless
edit: wait.. are you sure the Moto G LTE (4.5") costs more than the 2nd gen Moto G? I've just checked prices, and the "old" Moto G LTE (4.5") costs about 150eur, the 2nd gen Moto G (5") about 175eur and the new 2nd gen Moto G LTE (also 5") about 200eur.
Just for clarification:
1st gen Moto G ("2013"):
non-LTE , 4.5": XT1032
LTE + microSD, 4.5": XT1039
2nd gen Moto G ("2014"):
non-LTE, 5", single SIM: XT1063
non-LTE, 5", dual SIM: XT1068
LTE, 5", single SIM: XT1072 (apparently UK-only)
LTE, 5", dual SIM: XT1079

I prefer the larger ones since I can see everything more clearly and it gives me more space when I'm working.
