Internet Explorer question a tricky one

    Hi,

i know this might sound abit silly but its an actual problem that ive been trying to solve for someone for a while but i just dont know how to research it so i thought id post it up here.

Basically, you know when you save a file from internet explorer it adds a [1] prefix to the file name, is it anyhow possible to remove that setting, i thought it might be in the registry somewhere but had no luck finding it.

one of my mates is having this problem as she has to rename the files constantly because she needs it to have the original filename. i know some of you might find this abit trivial however it is quite irritating having to rename every file u get sent in ur attachments lol

home someone can help me with this

    thanks

I've never seen this... Although you could just use Firefox?

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, I'm sure someone round here will come though for ya!

Sounds like it is saving the temp files for some reason, as they usually have a prefix [1] after the file name.

Are you right click and saving or just dragging for example an image into a folder?

One option would be to delete all temp files / cache.

Re: Internet Explorer question a tricky one

It's a good call from Rishi, you could get her to use CCleaner to clear cache/temp files etc. It wouldn't hurt to repair/reinstall Internet Explorer either if you feel it's borked in other ways she hasn't mentioned to you.
