Question Need Pro Help with MS Outlook 2003 or File Access?

I have dual boot setup on my PC so when i power up PC it asks which OS i want to load

    Windows XP
    or
    Vista

What i want to do (if possible) is to be able to use MS outlook 2003 in both XP and Vista but sharing and updating the same .pst file.

I have installed Outlook 2003 on Vista and tried to point it to use the .Pst file that is on the windows XP HDD but it comes up saying access is denined.

Any one got any ideas Please Post them

    Cheers

I'd imagine the best way to deal with it would be to have a third partition setup and dump the PST there. The PST is currently in it's default location which is part of your XP user profile, and access is restricted by default to that user's SID.

Outlook and Exchange/Windows Messaging Backup and Dual-Boot

The above tells you where everything is and how to back it up etc. It may or may not help.

Personally, and I know it's not what you asked, I'd ditch Outlook in favour of Thunderbird

Would it need a separate partition? Either a separate folder with appropriate access, or even change the ACL on the .pst file.

A seperate folder would do it, I'm just that used to having a seperate partition for stuff I may need to access from other OSes is all

Oh yes, certainly if there is lots of other data - just seemed that a partition for one file (although it can get pretty big!) was overkill!

Re: Need Pro Help with MS Outlook 2003 or File Access?

    All Sorted and working,

Copied the Pst file to a separate folder and then deleted the original Pst from both Outlooks 2003 and then reopened
outlook and it then comes up saying its missing default pst, so then directed it to the new folder
for both and working and updated now in each OS.

Cheers for all the help Guys!!!!
