Have used Home Premium, Business & currently Ultimate and not had any problems with an xvid/divx file yet. I use the codecs from Vista Codec Package Homepage (32bit and a 64bit addon package) and have had no problems with any media type, but I'm sure if you wanted to go grab the xvid codecs on its own and install that it should be equally fine.

When I can put it on as many machines as I can XP without the possible trouble and general randomness then I'll install it on my machines...

personally, i wouldn't upgrade an existing system with xp on it - but i wouldn't buy xp either

what i was driving at is Trig's "xp works on lots of computers" thing doesn't remotely cover all the bases
IME, vista works well, barring occasional oddities (and it's not like XP was free of little oddities), but it's not worth the asking price if you already have a working windows that works on your kit
In the context of a thread about going XP->Vista it kinda does chap..
