Lotus Notes is great, especially for waisting time at work. On our version if you copy a line of text from IE in to lotus notes, it locks the computer up for five minutes. Great excuse for falling asleep at work.
If notes was kept as what it was meant to be, a document management\collaboration system, rather than having a mail elements jammed into it it would be fine, now its a real Frankenstein's monster of an app
I like Notes, kind of anyway.
Things I like:
1) Meeting room booking, much better in Lotus Notes than Exchange, you can search for a room for at least 10 people at a particular time rather than going though each room to see if it's freem
2) Don't lose everyones mail when the database dies as in Exchange as each mailbox is an individual file.
3) Can create different apps so it can become so much more than an e-mail system
Hmm that's about it, but it's still pretty good.
We had to buy a copy at work for testing purposes. Trying to buy it direct was a weird experience, it was as if they didn't want to sell to us (perhaps they were too ashamed?) I'm not sure we ever did get a copy out of them.
Notes makes every day at work that little bit harder.
Not around too often!
