SBS 2003 web access trys to display router page.

I've setup a SBS 2003 server, allowed web access, I can access it internally on the lan by using

    http://<servername>/

I have also setup an A record for one of our domains to our companys external ip to see if I can use the web access, but this just asks me for the login for our router.

Our setup is a DrayTek Vigor2800 series router, the SBS server is behind this on our lan.

AFAIK it's setup by default to be on , replace 000.000.000.000 with your external IP address.

Re: SBS 2003 web access trys to display router page.

I know its on because I can access it internally, my problem is my a record that points to my external ip is bringing up my router page rather than the exchange server web access page, so I think its a router config problem rather than SBS, just don't know what.

Re: SBS 2003 web access trys to display router page.

your router is allowing external login via port 80. You need to turn off the ability to connect to your router config page from outside your network.

    eg

I know for a fact that the 2800 has a remote config option

There was an option saying to allow configuration of router from the internet, which I unchecked, now I cant even access the router config page using the internal ip address

you have a missconfigured router then.... can you telnet to it?

Just to double check, you are using the internal IP of the router to connect from inside the network arn't you?

how many external IP's have you got on that DSL line ?

if you have more than 1 then you'll need to configure port forwarding on one of your other IP's in that range.

have you forwarded the relevent ports for OWA to the sbs box ?

I can access it now via local network.

Accessing it via the internet is off.

I get connection timed out when trying to do it via my a record

so from an external connection what exactly do you want to be able to coonect to?

To connect to anything you must first port forward the correct ports to the internal IP of the SBS.

That's the Management page on our 2800, as mentioned, set the page to another port, such as 8080 or 8090 and you will need to forward your required ports to your server, such as 25, 443 etc..

Re: SBS 2003 web access trys to display router page.

We have one fixed ip on that dsl line.

I've done the 8080 bit, funnily enough thats why I could not access the router page yeah I'm quite dumb when it comes to the obvious.

What other ports do I need to forward, we already had 25 done in readiness for email.

As Jay has said, you need to find out exactly want you want to have accessible from the outside world and then google to find the necessary ports.

This is a clients 2800 configured with their SBS box to allow RWW etc..

    Blimey!
Thats a lot of ports open on your SBS box!
Whats with all the 600x ports being open? - What does that achieve?
