Can anyone here convert a .PDF to a .DOC for me?

I have a .PDF file that I need to convert exactly to a .DOC file. I have found a few free programs that claim to do it but they just simply copy the text in big lump.

Can anyone here do this for me if I send the .PDF to them? ITs only about 9 pages long and just over 900K.

    *Edit*

It was supposed to read "Can anyone here convert .PDF to .DOC for me?"

the formats aren't directly comparable, there's no non-filthy way to do this conversion

Lots of programs that claim to do it (as I'm sure you found) including this one

    PDF to Doc Converter.

but as DirectHex says, the two formats are different - I think the doc to pdf process is almost a virtual print. A doc document also contains a lot of formatting and history information that cannnot be created during the reverse (pdf to doc) process.

I came across the following recently: Zamzar - Free online file conversion

But whether it does it exactly or whether it just does it in a lump of text like you say, I have no idea since I've not tried it (just thought it'd be a handy link to keep).

it IS a virtual print - give or take, PDF is a simplified version of the PostScript printer languages, and most windows PDF printers use postscript as a middle point in the process

I thought so! (But as I wasn't 100% certain, I didn't want to be dogmatic about it!)

    Yes,

Acrobat 8 can do it... but it doesn't copy it exactly... as it doesn't have the layout capability.

I've got it at work here, PM me if you want me to give it a go.

Re: Can anyone here convert a .PDF to a .DOC for me?

You can just copy and paste things out of pdfs these days, not ideal, but as it is only 9 pages it wouldn't take too long?

I use the FREE PDF to WORD CONVERTER

The program can extract text, images, shapes from PDF file to Word Doc file and preserve the layout.

Give it a whirl and see what you think.

Re: Can anyone here convert a .PDF to a .DOC for me?

Might be a stupid question... I'm not overly familiar with Open Office but I have used it once or twice in Ubuntu on my laptop, that has some PDF options can anything be done through that or can it only create PDFs? might be worth a look.

it can't open them. PDF is not an "input" format for word processing. image editor apps can open pdfs though.

Re: Can anyone here convert a .PDF to a .DOC for me?

    Hi

This might sound like a rather round about way of doing it but how about printing the document and then scan it back in using a decent OCR package? I know they have had a bad rep in the past but I find many of them are pretty good at character recognition now.
