Anyone ever ordered Vista alternate media?

Has anyone here ever ordered alternate vista media from MS? I ordered my 64-bit Vista DVD on the 1st september (1am), and I still haven't received it. MS say 4-8 business days. Anyway, I've sent an email to support, I'll see what they say.

What were the delivery times like for you?

Dunno about you but my receipt says please allow 28 days. Ordered on 1st Sept, not worried at this point.

4-8 days lmao They didn't even respond to acknowledge my purchase that quick. Mine took over 3 weeks to arrive, and even then they sent the wrong disc (twice!). I wouldn't worry just yet. They are shipped out from a company in Germany, btw.

If you can do so, that would probably be the best idea It's also perfectly legitimate, as you're only using a generic install medium, not 'borrowing' a serial or COA. If you can find someone with 64 bit media, go for it.

Note that ALL Vista install DVDs carry ALL versions in that architecture. In other words, every x64 disc contains Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate etc. It's the serial you enter that determines what version gets installed, not the disc itself

It's not £17, it £7.

I sent them an email asking what had happened, and they replied promptly saying they'd send out another one free of charge as the disc didn't arrive in the guaranteed 4-8 days. Pretty good I reckon.

However, the disc arrived the very next day anyway.

Well bully for M$'s inconsistencies I paid £17 both times, and when they sent me two of the wrong disc they made me post them back at my own expense!!

What difference in cost are you speaking about Splash, 'coz there's a lot more than £7.88 difference between OEM versions of Vista,, and retail boxed versions of Vista?
