Issues with installing vista - stuck on blue/green screen

Hi, i have a computer which has the following specs

    E6750
    4GB of ddr2 800 (2x 2GB)
    ATI hd4850
    320 GB SATA II
    Asus P5N-D (nforce 750i chipset)

and am trying to install vista ultimate on it. I have been able to sucessfully instal vista on a number of machines before this, although this seems to be the most problematic. At first, after i inserted the DVD, it would hang on a black screen after the progress bar which says "setup is loading files" and after the green bar had finished moving accross the box a few times. it was after the green bar would move acrross the screen that i would just see a black screen with the mouse. I was able to move the mouse but with nothing to click on, it was of no use.

Then, i thought i should pobably take out one of the 2GB sticks of ram to leave 2GB left in the machine. This gets me further, but only the state where i can see the screen with the blue/green gradient which occurs just before the vista install now button appears. So now i am stuck on a screen where there is just a blue/green screen and the mouse. I have tried everything i could think of but to no avail. If would be very grateful if anyone could help me. Thanks.

PS this is not the BSOD which i am stuck on.

Oh well, i guess patience really is a virtue.

By the time i had finished writing the post, all was fine. It just so happened that it takes signifcantly longer on some machines (an nForce issue?)
