Windows 7 x64 dual boot won't see other drive

I have dual booted the new beta with windows xp on my laptop install went without a hitch. When using explorer it won't see my other partitioned drive? I had vista on this drive before and it worked no problems but not on this any ideas or is it a bug?

Either a bug or something microsoft put in. Ive got the same issue aswell

Same here. My other partitions (Storage & Scratch) are visiable, but no XP. Disktools does see it though, is happy to let me work on it and even knows it label.

I'm thinking a bug or beta thing, as Vista dual boot saw my XP fine.

Works fine in all dual boot configurations here but I did have to assign the other drives a letter, which would have been the same for a Vista installation.

it seems drive letters don't get assigned for other partitions with a windows installed on them. go to disk management and your problems will be solved!

indeed, it's something you'll not see in the release as Windows will automatically assume a drive letter, for the time being it's believing the users of it's beta state will be knowledgeable enough to want to map the drive themselves rather than let windows make an assumption

Same problem here. I just went into disk management and assigned a letter....pretty simple, but an odd problem.

I had the same, it picked up all but one of my partitions (the one that was originally c: )

Win7 insisted that it had to be C: so it left my partition without a drive letter, and i've had to assign it as Y:

Also hit this issue, it must be a feature they programmed in. Seems a bit archaic that you can't assign A and B to hard disk drives. I wonder if any windows 7 pc will actually be running a floppy drive?

When I installed Windows 7 Beta, my Vista partition was at first not visable at all, and then after installing some drivers, it was shown as an unknown drive. This is what I did:

Right-click on Computer, go to Manage, then go to Disk Management. Assign your missing partitions a drive letter. This fixed it for me.

Incidentally, plugging a USB floppy into either of my W7 machines works fine and allocate automatically to a:. They're certainly "not of modern times" but sometimes they're required for otherwise simple jobs - Sata drivers for modern systems with XP is the more common one I find. Other than that it's just work stuff
But, like 32bit systems, floppy drives and media should really have died out many years ago.

i have also encountered this issue as currently have multiple hard disks, however upon checking with diskmanagement and assigning the drive letter manually i can now successfully access the drive and partitions
