By the way, have changed to NO PAGING FILE (switched virtual memory off) and according to everest, my RAM usage has since then risen from approx 25/35% to approx 65/75%.
Looks like finally my RAM has been assigned a purpose to and having switched off the indexing service, my HDD was already much calmer. But turning paging file off ... I cannot hear my hard drive working anymore cool.

Hello,
Ive used 64bit vista home premium since november and it works well.
it can get very slow at times but i do push my machine alot. btw any version of vista will and i have 2gb of ram. before anyone says anything i cannot afford more ram.

my sister uses 64bit vista on her machine and she hasnt had any issues. games work well on it as well. even thou she only plays the sims 2.

you shouldnt have any problems with drivers these days.

I have 8GB. I switched my paging file back on because VMware server crashed on Vista x64 wheras with a paging file on, it just completely locks up my system for about 2 minutes thrashing the HDD.
If it wasn't for VMware server, I would definately have my paging file off. With it off, everything was noticably snappier.

I have a superb sound card..... it's an M-Audio Revolution 7.1

It's the best gaming sound card I've ever used. It's 3d positioning, in stereo, is nowt short of superb.

It is on my window sill, not in my PC, because m-audio have given up trying t sort the 64 bit drivers.

gutted does not cover it... I'm proper proper saddened, and am back to onboard audio

Aha! I'm not the only one rather dis-chuffed at M-Audio for their terrible attempt at writing drivers for Vista x64 then!

I have an M-Audio Black Box, that I used as my recording interface for recording guitar tracks, upgraded to Vista x64 about a year and a half ago, and still can't use it! I've ended up buying a competitors product, 'cause it works. The M-Audio one will now sit doing nothing until I sell it, or smash it into a million pieces out of spite...probably the first option!

thats the fault of one company thou.
overall its genrally pretty good.
the more oem's ship 64bit the more companies will be forced to create 64bit drivers.
im pissed off at another well known computer company "creative" for shipping subpar drivers for x-fi for linux. they did finaly opensourse the drivers in december so i have got to wait.

some antivirus companies still dont support 64bit OS's
some companies really need to be kicked until they finaly give in and make there applications/drivers work with 64bit.
