Bash and coreutils still put it to shame. A marked improvement over cmd.exe though.

Au contrare, it's the Mr/Mrs Normal that do NEED to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7 - the personal security for the uninitiated is FAR higher than such a vulnerable OS like XP. Getting things to work with the newer OSes is far easier, and they are a better user experience all round.

Microsoft have already learned that the pricing is going to be right for the masses to consider it - they are one of the worlds most sucessful companies, and that didn't occur by chance.

I wonder how much of Microsoft's success can be attributed to it's price policy as opposed to it's attempts at vendor lock-in.

Is it good? I've spotted it on there and I know it was available on earlier OSes as a downloadable extra (our 2003 Server at work has it) but I've not bothered using it yet....

So apparently it has RTM'ed. Build is 7600.16384.090710-1945 according to this site & several other tech websites.

Well, it's not just any build is it. It's probably RTM, which is a cause to get giddy in my book

IIRC, Vista RTM wasn't uploaded to MSDN/TechNet untill 1-2 weeks after it RTM'ed.

Plus, I doubt you will see much action on technet/MSDN until our American cousins start filtering into work....
