http://www.channelregister.co.uk/200...crash_windows/The site got a week's traffic in less than hour
Right got the RC, got my key, its installed, up and running with basic programs (FireFox, Office 2007) in 45 mins. The actual install took about 15mins which was pretty good!
So far quick, slick and no crashes yet. I'll probably regret installing as my main OS sometime soon though!
I think I will wait a day or two before I nab the public beta. The site is bogged down and nothing seems to be getting through to the public rc downloads page.

One point worth noting that this release is only valid realistically until March rather than June....
With the last sentence indicating you will require a full reinstall. Oh well till March isn't bad!Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You’ll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use. (Learn more about installing Windows.)
Managed to get the 64bit version this morning without to many problems.
This is my first experience with Windows 7 and on trying to install I am being asked for drivers for my DVD drive. I have a NEC 2510a. Does anyone know if this drive will work under Win 7? I can't seem to find a driver at the moment.

Downloading it now
My download is on the way... at the record-breaking speed of 3B/s!
Something is definitely wrong...
/me is still using Windows 7, no crashes, even ran Dead Space fine.
/me impressed so far.
managed to put mine on this morning (560kbps which is the max for my line) before i went to work and the gf says it's finished and i've talked her through buring it onto a dvd so it's ready for when i get home.
It's an IDE drive. I'm trying to install from booting the disc on the primary boot device. Am I doing this wrong? Should I just be doing it while I'm already running windows? Would this make a difference to it needing the driver?
Hmm how strange. Is it a really old drive?
Fairly old yeah, Around 3-4 years I think, but it's been a great drive so I ahve not seen the need in upgrading it yet.
