    IIS won't play

Hi Guys, please point me to obvious schoolboy error I've made and then laugh at me when I own up to it

I've just set up a new website (well, migrated an old one, to be precise). I've set up the new website in IIS, set it to the appropriate IP address, pointed it at the correct folder in C:\inetpub (yes, I'm a traditionalist), set default documents to include Default.aspx, and checked that the permissions on the folders. I have another website hosted on the same server with basically the same settings, and that's working fine.

But when I try to view the website I keep getting a 404 error. I've even checked the logs, and sure enough the request is coming through, the site is trying to retrieve /Default.aspx but it is returning a 404 error, despite Default.aspx being in the folder.

So, what have I missed? I'm sure it must be a schoolboy error, but I just can't see it...

    Re: IIS won't play

I have it sorted now, and it was such a schoolboy error I'm almost ashamed to admit to it.

My sites use dlls compiled for .NET 32bit. I have .NET 64bit disabled in "Web Service Extensions" (in favour of keeping it simple and only running the sites on 32bit .NET). BUT the server runs Windows 2K3 64bit, so when you set up a new site, it automatically sets up all the isapi filters to point to ... yup, .NET 64bit.

I went through the isapi filters and reset each one to point to 32bit .NET, and it's now working - or at least it will be when I've made a couple of config changes due to the change of server!

    Re: IIS won't play

Would've been even better if I'd remembered doing that back in October when I set the other site up though *headdesk*
