    Question BBC iPlayer Problem

Hi all, got a bit of a problem with the desktop version of BBC iPlayer, which I use a lot. Basically some time ago iPlayer videos stopped scaling properly when I make them fullscreen, so they look really pixellated.

I've checked video drivers and all are the latest, also got the latest release of iPlayer installed. It only affects iPlayer videos (SQ & HD), when I watch DVDs or use VLC there are no problems with going fullscreen.

When I re-size the vid window without making it fullscreen it scales correctly and resizes the video without it becoming all pixellated.

Tried reinstalling iPlayer and deleting settings too.

Do other Flash-based video streams expand properly, for example, YouTube or the web-based streaming iPlayer?

It might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Flash and Air too, as BBC iPlayer desktop uses them. You can probably just uninstall them and revisit the iPlayer website to get them reinstalled.

    Re: BBC iPlayer Problem

Hi, it does affect the streaming iPlayer, and also the LoveFilm player, but youtube is unaffected. I think it might have something to do with hardware acceleration, and the flash player isn't using it for some reason.

    Re: BBC iPlayer Problem

Interesting - I get lagging effects at full screen, which I attributed to latency/bottlenecks. I'm using a beta 64 bit on a Linux system and had no problems with the previous 32 bit version inside a 64 bit wrapper.

You didn't mention the hardware you are running it on...

    Re: BBC iPlayer Problem

The specs are Q6600, 8800GT (256), 4GB ram, had no problems running HD flash before so don't think it's any kind of hardware issue. I'm pretty sure the problems started occurring when I updated flash to 10.1, youtube seems to be using that spec but I know that LoveFilm only uses 10.0 for its player.

-edit oh and the monitor is just a normal TN panel running at 1440*900, its native res. This is all running on Win7 64-bit. I haven't got a linux distro installed atm, going to try the 32bit flavour of 10.10 when it is released.
