Well that seemed to work - it's compiled and installed.
The only problem is my RAID array doesn't work under Kernel 2.6 (SATA RAID.)
I've patched support for it and am recompiling now - then I should be able to get at me games!
how much time would you say you took, or the average fool would take to get winex setup ?
just wondering if it was a simple process to get steam working like that, or any hickups etc.
slightly off, what exactly is ALSA ? could do with figuring out some sound setup for me, spose i need to research nf2 soundstorm on linux
er, if your northbridge fan is humming loudly, disconnect it. _dont_ kick the side of the case, it _will_ break it.
i know :/
nope, that's it. www.alsa-project.org
essentially, linux has (had) a standardised driver, called OSS. it sucked (e.g. only one sound at once possible), and a replacement system was developed by SUSE primarily - ALSA. ALSA replaced OSS in the latest version of the linux kernel. getting it fully working's a bit of a task, though. partly (i.e. playing one sound at once using the ALSA driver instead of OSS) didn't take too long
winex (& steam by extension) was pretty easy, all things considered.
it'll all be going itno my big guide.
