A 2nd edition of the v7 beta client.

    Anyone fancy trying this?
Downloaded and installed, will run when my client has finished its current WU. What kind of info you after?

Well, folks here were saying points weren't being awarded for GPU WUs, SMP WUs weren't showing predicted PPD values. These two, mainly.

Re: New versions of Folding software shout outs...

Well I lost my first GPU WU on the first client, after that it was fine though.
As for bonus, I've never got bonus points for SMP even after 10 WU (different clients though) so I'm not sure if I'll get one now if this is classed as another client.

Paused folding last night on 60% of an SMP WU, started it up just now & it's dropped back to 58%, might be a checkpointing issue but it's set to 4mins so I'm not sure about that :/

Unless you do 2 percent in less than 4 minutes, then it's something other

I wish I could do a percent every two minutes, though

Re: New versions of Folding software shout outs...

TPF is about 4mins for this 500k, just finishing now, got 1,977 points for it (60% last night, the rest earlier today). It's already populated another WU, looks like it downloaded it before my other was finished for some reason, I'll need to look at that.

Nearly finished a 1M with no breaks, will see how this goes, STILL not getting any bonus points, how do I reset the passkey rather than just resend it as I'm using the correct one, although it might be me changing clients that resets it?

Mine is folding ok, not doing SMP on it, just GPU and I've been getting credit (I'm pretty sure).

    Try getting another passkey, maybe?

But if you got 1977 points for a 500K WU, it mean's you're getting bonus (as you got 1977 instead of 481 or similar).

Re: New versions of Folding software shout outs...

Tried the new client on my HTPC last night running GPU only, but there doesn't seem to be any easy way to track the speed of folding (the old viewer gave you progress to many decimal places, the new one doesn't seem to bother) and the core was taking almost 100% of my Sempron 140, which I can't cope with when I'm trying to use the computer for other purposes! Even the standard uniprocessor core is less intrusive I'm assuming from that that ATI GPU folding isn't fixed Think I'll stick to chugging away on the work server for now - perhaps when I get back from holiday I'll give the new client a go on Kali instead...

Re: New versions of Folding software shout outs...

Yeah I guess 2k per WU is probably about right, takes ~6hrs so a few WU per day. Less than I expected though
Also got a little less for a 1M WU even though it completed much faster than the 500k one I just did?

jim - have you gone into config & dropped the CPU% slider to less than 100? Would that perhaps impact the GPU client as well (?)
Although I have heard mention of people on hex cores needing to run -smp 4 so their ATI card can have 2 dedicated cores!

1M WUs have smaller credit since they are easier to fold, that's right (they give ~1600 points in finished quickly).

Re: New versions of Folding software shout outs...

V7.1.24 the 2nd V7 Beta is now out, seems to have sorted the issue of things getting stuck in my queue as sending, had several work units stuck at one point.

Easy enough to upgrade, just uninstall keeping your data, and install the update in the same place and it should pick up where it left off.

I've just downloaded the A4 core for my windows SMP client. How come is that? Isn't it for Linux only? Does this qualify as "news"?

GPU Tracker 2, can't believe I only just found this, it makes managing your console clients so much easier, seems well worth installing for anyone really (also seems more user friendly than v7)
