Question So... this Firefox thingy... (couple of questions)

Determined to persevere with this but gah the default options seem almost the opposite of what I am used to, lol.

I've got TBE as I thought it ridiculous there is no option to open links in new tabs rather than new windows, so that hurdle was overcome.

The context menus on the tabs themselves I would like to be able to change the order of the options, but from what I can gather you can only toggle them on or off?
(I would like "close this tab" at the top for ease of access.)

When posting a message on this forum, I am able in MyIE2/IE to highlight some text, click the "create hyperlink" option and the label gets carried across automatically, plus it will replace the text I highlighted with the new link wherever it happened to be in the body.
Now clicking "create hyperlink" only puts a new one at the end of the current body and ignores whatever text was highlighted - is this something that could be implemented through an extension of some kind?

Can the navigation toolbar be resized vertically so it doesn't have gaps top & bottom when there is no text underneath?
(Without resorting to a new theme, I mean.)

No 'minimize to system tray' option?
Unless I'm blind (not ruling this possibility out) - and the only FAQ I could find was talking about Thunderbird.

Any Firefox gurus able to assist please?

Oh, and is it possible to get the vertical scrollbar to be always present?
I don't like it when the visible width of a page changes due to its height as the scrollbar pops in and out, it bugs me.

for the closing tabs - look at the RHS of the tab bar, there should be a "x" button. clicking that closes the current tab. I don't play with the browser's setup much, so I don't have the answers to the rest of the questions, but i hope that one helps. If you have TBE installed, that may have been turned off, and if it has then go turn it on under TBE preferences > Close tab > Show "close current tab" button in tab bar.

I'm familiar with the close tab cross, and the keyboard shortcut CTRL-W to close the current tab, I have the "close current tab" on the context menu but it's the position i the menu I'd like to shift.

Zak33 - can't you add your website's URL to the list of ones permitted to make windows pop up?
I would have assumed sticking it in Tools / Options / Web Features would have let your site work properly?
Or is it some other non-Javascripty method to make the info appear?

on sites that cause a popup, INSIST that you want it - click the link repeatedly. firefox should get the message and allow all popups of that type from then on.

An exploit has been discovered that can cause you to open a web site in Internet Explorer, which can then lead to a system compromise. Disabling JavaScript in Firefox does not make you immune. The full text of the exploit follows.

Sorry, this site requires Microsoft Internet Explorer.

The workaround is to e-mail the site admin, telling them that they are promoting the insecure practice of using Internet Explorer for sites that claim to require it. Unfortunately, some sites require Internet Explorer even to contact the site admin, leading to a catch-22.

thanks, slashdot (http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=112569&cid=9544245)
