    the most hardcore, overpowering & monstrous copy protection i've ever dealt with.

    smartripper was able to get the information off the disc, transcoder/mencoder couldn't get near it without ballsing somehting up severely. nasty nasty protection.

    The Eagles - Hotel California

    I had to record it through sound forge to get a backup... never had trouble backing anything else up.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Hmmm. I thought transcode/mencoder ripped on the fly. ie. if it's readable it's rippable, at least to avi if not to another actual dvd disc.
    All effort is useless

    not in the slightest. both rely on libdvdcss2 and libdvdread3, if either of those libraries cannot cope with bad data then any ripping app will get fed bad data. in this case, video starting 15 minutes in (audio starting at 0:0 but going at the wrong speed)m with the fifteen missed minutes being replaced with garbage spiced with a macrovision logo.
