Finally: Linux community has a strike at ATI

The linux community has finally had enough of ATIs bad support for their products under linux. As a result a petition has been made available for people to sign. It will problaby be sent onwards to ATI to make peoples feeling clear. I found this on the inquirer so its only right i link to their article. If you don't want to read the small article they have you can go straight to the petition here. Thought some ATI linux users might be interested in signing it

i don't see it as making a difference, ati seem to have made their decision regarding linux support - that decision being "go buy nvidia then you whiny gits"

I dont see it making much of a difference either to be honest. As long as ATI keep profits up on their windows front they wont care about linux. Its in the minority. However if support for linux as an alternative to win continues to grow and expand as fast as it is ATI will be forced to do somthing eventually. I recon ne way.

About time too! I have recently installed FC2 on my AMD Athlon64 rig and the 9200 Radeon in it wouldn´t work for peanuts...Eventually I had to stick an old 7500 card in instead, which wasn´t a major problem as i don´t play games, but the fact that it [the 9200] wouldn´t work AT ALL really annoyed me, fair enough a lack of 3D support in Linux isn´t really that big a deal, how many people play games in it? but for something not to work at all, is down right shoddy...

and a sled pisses on a Ferrari on a steep downhill snowy piste!

For mortals such as me, who have just got the confidence to try MOZILLA, let alone an entire new OS, such as Linux, the thought of my precious ATI cards not working puts me further off

if a company doesn't support all OS's (reasonably) or make their hardware info for others to support it....don't moan and form petitions, simpley don't by that kit...ever.

This is one of the reason I don't buy ATI
    It is Inevitable.....
