Ok, does a AMD 64bit use two threads in a 32bit windows or just one? If just one the 64bit windows would yeiled the same performance... right? Some one once told me that a AMD 64bit cpu uses two threads at once when in 32bit windows much like intels hyperthreading....
Also whats the difference between 64 and 32 bit windows?
the difference is over the size of the addressable memory, and length of registers.
and 32bit windows on amd64 is just bog standard 32bit. there's no hyperthreading voodoo to be found.
I wish people would get over this 64 bit OS stuff. I don't think it will make much difference if any to home users. I've been using 64 bit os'es for a few years now and I only really see it come to fruition on certain senarios

PS HPUX in 64bit is also reasonable, AIX sucks. Not really used Tru64 much, never will now that HP has scrapped it

What difference is it gonna make to me. I game, have lots of music/videos, and regulaly have plenty of programs open at once, photoshop/dreamweaver/word/firefox etc.

but 386 beat 286 into submission because it was fast, not because it was 32bit. it was YEARS later that 32 bit software was the norm, after everybody ran 32 bit hardware already
well I tried windows beta, I got all the 64 bit drivers... but wheres the 64bit apps? Is there any?

and using 32bit apps on windows64 is a good test of whether it's ready for use by normal people
Mines very unstable... But then again this hole rig is now unstable..
