    Sygate PF, hogs CPU time

I have Sygate personal firewall, and it (smc.exe) is always hogging CPU time whenever i use a network conecction (lan or web)
    - this is especially noticeable with heavy network usage, ie when burning a DVD at higher speeds!

    - just wondered if this is normal, or if there are any option i can set to reduce this?

erm would you not expect it to be more underdemand when you are doing things with the network, being a firewall and all?. The only thing i can think of having not ever used the product, is to turn off any "internal" lan checking to reduce the load?

    I dont have this problem.
CPU usage is very small, even when being maxed out on my 100Mbps LAN.

Your not using a gigabit LAN are you ?, i read somthing a while back where it said that software firewalls will have one hell of a time with them due to the amount of data they can have passing through them. Dont know how true it is though as im still on 100.

No, i cant afford gigabit lan!! - the servers HDD cant keep up with 100Mbps anyway!!

-its weird, i might try reinstalling it, or setting all the setting back to default, or somethink (maybe i need learn how to use sygate!!)
