    Temporary Internet Files

Where are these usually stored by Firefox, and is there a way of putting them into an alternative folder? as I have partictioned my drive so would like that sort of stuff kept off the OS section and remain where files and programs are etc...

Try entering about:cache in your url bar in the browser The files are kept in your profile folder which will be wherever your Documents and Settings folder resides. If you want to move your profile folder from there, follow the instructions at http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile

no, i'm not wanting to move profiles, as the link you helpfully provided describes. What I want to do is move things like temporary things such as cookies or gifs/jpegs etc. as Internet Explorer does (most unhelpfully) in somewhere such as
    C:\Documents and Settings\[USER NAME]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
where does Firefox put these, or is it - naturally - more efficient at it and doesn't save these thing?

edit - sorry, just realised what a muppet I am! Temporary files = cache in firefox.

At what speed does it get the point when temp internet files are worthless? ie. you can get most web pages quicker from your BB pipe than your HDD. Obviously with large pics internet cache is still usefull.

No, you can only move them by moving your profile AFAIK. There may be some arcane config file you could hack but you may as well move your entire profile!
