    Excel cells

    Hello,

I need to add some text to the start of every cell in excel, in a column,

ie. currently it's got emailaddress@someone.com on about 4000 cells, but I need every email cell to be SMTP:emailaddress@someone.com instead - is there any easy way of doing this?

    Josh

    concatenate is your friend

in the cell you type =concatenate(cell1,emailaddycell)

    In cell1 put SMTP:

Drag your list down and robert's your mother's brother.

Or you could have used CONCATENATE("SMTP:",emailaddycell) and not needed a target containing the text 'SMTP:'.

This function is really handy if you have peoples names in two columns and want them in one column: CONCATENATE(cellrefoffirstname," ",cellrefofsecondname) - put the " " in to place a space between the two names.

Select the cells you want to fill down to, include the =concatenate cell and hit ctrl+d
