    Paste as text ?

For years I have been copying words out of applications (complete with a ton of cruddy formating) and then having to 'clean' it in Notepad before being able to paste it into another application

    Why-oh-why-oh-why...

...is there no 'Paste as clean text' in Windows ?

BTW: Having a 'View source' option in most MS apps - not just Explorer - would be a nice touch

Not quite what I had in mind

The reason I posted this in the OS thread is that I am talking about a feature that is part of the clipboard so that cut & paste from anywhere to anywhere has this as a right-mouse-click option

It would be so useful !

I'm sure there must be a shell extension for windows that does it... take a look at the freeware section on http://www.snapfiles.com

Well, you know how it is, can't always get what you want with computers. Why oh why, for instance, is 'nix graphics driver support from the two biggest video card companies so rubbish?

As for your problem though, there are actual solutions, such as:

To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

(Hope I have correctly interpreted the quote !)

We have stated publicly that we will be producing a new Linux driver 6 times a year (approximately one every 8 weeks)

The reaction to the last one in 2004 was quite strong - and a number of people posted on HEXUS and elsewhere that they 'could be happier'...

...but the first version distributed this year seems to have gone quite smoothly

For the latest on Linux and Linus 64 drivers, try this link...

If you have specific questions - then PLEASE let me know and I will make sure that they are fed into the development team

We are dedicated to making our products and drivers as good as possible for all platforms - and if we say that Linux is getting prioritised then that means we will make big strides... but only if we get the best feedback possible

BTW: Thanks for the ink - I will try it - but I am still not sure what it is not part of the fundamantal OS

quit using highly presumptive RPMs only suitable for two distributions, swallow pride, and use the well-designed, open-source nvidia-installer. or even better, ensure the licensing terms for the drivers are such that the drivers can be supplied with other distributions

to be fair, ati should be credited with the fact that they produce 3d drivers for linux at all, but you've got a lot of people who are very hard to please, and a long way to go to come anywhere close to nvidia for linux performance. if you put performance issues aside as bound to get better (as they already have done over the past 12 months), then the main problem with fglrx is it's still an arse to set up & get working
