    Question Installing on Linux

I was gonna post this in the Games section, but I need help with Linux really, not the game. So, I have UT2004 on DVD and I wanted to try and install it on my lovely (but PITA ) Debian Sarge desktop. So, I load up Debian, put in the DVD and up pops a window on screen with the file "linux-installer.sh". Great I thought, easy peasy.

Double clicked it and I get the option to run it in a terminal or just run it. Neither worked. Bugger. Look around for the over an hour on the net trying all sorts of different things, none seemed to work. The only things I couldn't try was mounting and unmounting CD's as I dunno how to do this, the CD drive is just mounted, how can you mount something else to it? Or am I missing something here.....?

Copying the installer to the hard drive started the installation, but it got about 1/5th of the way through and just seemed to stop.

So I gave up. No error messages, no screens to copy, just an installer which doesn't wanna install. Do I have to run it as root, coz I can't figure out how to log in as root, it won't let me. And I can only "su" in a terminal, which doesn't help either.

Oh yeah, and my mouse just suddenly stopped working again, just like it suddenly started after installing Debian! I don't think I changed anything, but I can't figure this out...

possibly the mouse is physically having issues - or the usb controller maybe?

as for the installer, run it from inside a terminal (i.e. sh /mnt/cdrom/linux-installer.sh) and you ought to get some more useful feedback

That seemed to work, thanks. Got to about 50% before I had to leave for work!

Mouse worked too. But after updating the Kernel! Weird...
