WMP 10 - Weird Sound Problem

    Hi guys,

I've been experiencing a rather annoying problem in WMP 10 for a while now (running XP Pro) where if I try and skip through a song by clicking further on on the progress bar the volume jumps up from what I'm listening to it at to max volume, which as you can imagine results in some rather loud music on occasions. As you can't really completely uninstall it does anyone have any suggestions, I've tried rolling back to WMP 9 and reinstalling 10 but to no avail. I have a few codecs installed to playback MP4s, do you think that is the route of the problem?

    Cheers,

Which formats does this occur on, does it still happen when you play a standard MP3 or WMA using the standard Microsoft CODECs?

Does this happen on any other media players, for example WinAmp or Foobar?

Open the windows volume control, then watch the levels as you make it put the level higher, which level does it move if any?

it happens using all codecs (basically anything I listen to/watch in WMP). I've had a look at the volume control and nothing moves. But the same problem doesn't occur in musicmatch or itunes
