In terms of hard hitting, attention grabbing, smack you in the mouth design?
List 'em here if you can :-)

Because all of those other sites take ages to load.
This is a good site by my criteria.

Most of the ones I admire are probably not what you're after. However for some good functional stuff look at http://www.scottschiller.com/
The photo viewer in particular is excellent
http://neostream.com/ is quite good, in terms of a website its well isnt that good, far to slow to load and is entirly flash based. but slapping that robot is just so much fun ;p
Flash is awful, im personally a fan of the nautilus css example page. Fantastic design without stupid glary ony offy bits.
Also, if i say hexus can i win the 7800GT?
true i also cant stand flash, but slapping the robot in that one is just so much fun. in terms of good web design have a look at the following sites
http://www.csszengarden.com
http://www.stylegala.com
The site www.blur.com is quite good but it is mostly flash based.
And of course you have to visit http://www.homestarrunner.com (home of Strongbad)
I prefer sites without all the flashy bits (no pun intended, although that includes Flash).
As a quick example, I quite like Komplett's website. It is simple and quick to load, and very to easy to navigate, without needing anything beyond the basic browser. Some other websites have too much content, and are slow because of it, while others make it overcomplicated.
"Well, there was your Uncle Tiberius who died wrapped in cabbage leaves but we assumed that was a freak accident."
www.hexus.net is rather good
